OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 05/16/2025, Chattanooga Police officers observed a vehicle behaving suspiciously near Hamilton Place Mall. Upon attempting a traffic stop, the driver, identified as 21-year-old Alricko Trimble Jr., fled, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit reaching speeds over 100 mph within the mall's parking lot and surrounding roads. During the chase, Trimble's vehicle collided with multiple occupied vehicles and eventually became stuck on a curb. As officers approached, Trimble allegedly attempted to run them over. Officers opened fire, killing Trimble. Two other occupants in the vehicle sustained minor injuries; one was hospitalized and later released, while the other was detained for questioning. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation into the incident, and the involved officers have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome.
