OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On May 17, 2025, Bellingham Police responded to reports of a man brandishing a firearm in the 100 block of East Holly Street. Upon arrival, officers encountered the armed individual. During the confrontation, an officer discharged their weapon, striking the man. The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No officers were injured. The Washington State Patrol is conducting an independent investigation.
