OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On May 29, 2025, Albuquerque Police Department SWAT officers located 39-year-old Jorge Dominguez at the Comfort Suites hotel near the Albuquerque Sunport. Dominguez retreated into his hotel room, broke a window, and jumped out. APD deployed K-9 officer Rebel, who bit Dominguez. Dominguez produced a handgun. Police engaged him in a shootout during which he was shot and killed. Canine Rebel also died from gunshot wounds. It is unclear who shot the dog.
