OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On the evening of May 28, 2025, 50-year-old Carrie Hall of Cartersville was fatally shot by law enforcement during a traffic stop in Bartow County. Earlier that evening, Hall reportedly arrived at a residence in Bartow County and discharged a firearm. The homeowner, who was acquainted with Hall, identified her to responding deputies. Around 8:40 p.m., deputies from the Bartow County Sheriff's Office, assisted by a Cartersville police officer, located Hall's vehicle at the intersection of SR 20 and Conference Center Drive and initiated a felony traffic stop. Hall exited her vehicle armed with a gun and did not comply with repeated verbal commands to drop the weapon. Deputies and the officer fired their weapons, striking Hall. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. No officers were injured during the incident. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation, and upon completion, the case will be referred to the Bartow County District Attorney’s Office for review.
