OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On May 29, 2025, around 1:00 a.m., Woodbridge Police Department officers responded to a 911 call regarding a domestic disturbance on East Tappen Street in the Port Reading section of Woodbridge Township. Aamir Allen, 35, of Carteret, allegedly violated a restraining order, smashed the windows of a woman’s SUV with a baseball bat, and reportedly assaulted the woman. Allen then fled to a nearby convenience store on Port Reading Avenue while still holding the baseball bat. When confronted by officers, Allen allegedly refused to comply with commands and continued to hold the bat. Sergeant Marco Bruno opened fire, striking Allen. He was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was pronounced dead at 9:21 a.m. The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office is leading an independent investigation into the incident. No body camera footage or surveillance video has been released publicly at this time.
