OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

Around 9 p.m. on June 2, 2025, police responded to a domestic violence call at a home on the 600 block of Stearns Avenue in Paynesville. A woman with head and neck injuries was evacuated safely and told officers that a man inside the home was armed. The man barricaded himself in the basement. Officers from multiple agencies entered the home and attempted to arrest him. Shots were fired and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. A firearm was found near his body. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating.
