OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On the morning of June 4, 2025, around 5:56 a.m., Oklahoma City Police arrived at a residence on the 5200 block of Evanbrook Terrace to serve a search warrant related to alleged sex crimes. Officers knocked and announced themselves before entering the residence. A man later identified as Jose Martinez exited through the back door of the home and began running, holding a pistol in his hand. Police pursued Martinez on foot. During the chase, he threw the pistol over a fence. Sergeant Justin Kuehn continued the pursuit and allegedly saw Martinez reach the location where the pistol had landed and pick it up. Sergeant Kuehn fired his service weapon, striking Martinez. Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene.
