OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
Greenville Police SWAT officers and Martin County deputies responded to reports of an intoxicated man with a shotgun driving a pickup truck in Hamilton. The man barricaded himself inside a home on North Front Street. After hours of police siege and multiple gunshots heard from inside, a Greenville Police Emergency Response Team officer shot and killed him around 5:30 a.m. An embedded emergency physician attempted aid, but he was pronounced dead on scene. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation.
