OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On June 5, 2025, at approximately 3:47 p.m., a Granite City Police officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a motorcycle near Maryville Road and Parkview Drive. The driver, 34-year-old Montie Eugene Ritchie, drove away northbound. Police escalated a high-speed pursuit that ended when Ritchie's Suzuki motorcycle collided with a Hyundai passenger car at the intersection of Pontoon Road and Maryville Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:43 p.m. The Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit and the Madison County Coroner’s Office are investigating.
