On 06/09/2025, first responders, including deputies from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police, were dispatched to the 100 block of Eighth Street near Corydon, Kentucky, following reports of a man threatening family members with a machete. Upon arrival, officers encountered 64-year-old Charles Powell, who had a machete and advanced toward them despite commands to stop. A deputy fired his service weapon, striking Powell. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries on 06/10/2025. The Kentucky State Police are leading the investigation into the incident.
