Jason Simmons, 40, was the subject of a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation on June 11, 2025, when deputies arrived at a property near Turan Road and Highway 67 in Saucier, Mississippi. Simmons allegedly fired a gun at officers and barricaded himself in a shed. A standoff lasting approximately four hours ended around 10:30 p.m. when Simmons reportedly opened fire. Officers opened fire, killing him. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation and will submit findings to the Attorney General's Office.
