OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

At approximately 5:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a home near SW 17th Street and South Portland Avenue for a reported attempted suicide. Four officers, Quintana, Brown, Sanroman, and Oliveira, approached the front door. Eddie Hill opened the door with a knife. All four shot at Hill. He was struck multiple times, transported to a local hospital in critical condition, and later died. All four officers were placed on administrative leave pending a departmental and external investigation. Eddie Hill was a loved father and son who, according to his son Korey, cared deeply for his family and attempted to save himself during a mental health crisis. “I know my daddy had no weapon.”
