OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/14/2025, Caldwell Police officers responded to a call for a medical emergency involving a 68-year-old man reportedly acting violently and threatening to jump from a third-floor balcony. Upon arrival, officers confronted the man, who they say was in an agitated and combative state. Officers used physical force and body weight to restrain him and placed him in handcuffs. Shortly afterward, the man lost consciousness. Officers removed the handcuffs and attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The exact cause and manner of death are pending autopsy results by the Canyon County Coroner. The Nampa Police Department’s Critical Incident Task Force is leading the investigation. The two involved Caldwell officers have been placed on administrative leave.
