On 06/13/2025, Memphis police officers responded to a vehicle parked outside a liquor store in the Orange Mound neighborhood. Officers approached the vehicle, driven by Timothy Cook, 35. According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Cook accelerated the vehicle and struck an officer. Another officer then fired at Cook, striking him. Cook continued driving and crashed into a nearby bus stop. He was taken to a hospital, where he died days later from his injuries. Cook had multiple outstanding warrants at the time of the incident.
