OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On June 24, 2025, Rutland Police responded to a domestic violence call at a residence on Evergreen Avenue. A man barricaded himself inside the home and refused to exit. Vermont State Police joined the response, and surrounding roads were shut down. After several hours of standoff, the man was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound around 5:45 p.m. He was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
