On 06/25/2025 around 2:30 p.m., Baltimore Police responded to multiple calls about a woman in mental distress at a residence on Mosher Street. When officers entered, they encountered Pytorcarcha Brooks holding a knife. After repeated verbal commands and deploying a taser, Brooks moved toward an officer. Another officer then shot her. She was transported to a hospital where she died. The Maryland Independent Investigations Division is reviewing the case, and the Baltimore NAACP has called for transparency regarding police handling of mental health calls.
