On 06/27/2025 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Michigan State Police responded to a hostage situation at Mercantile Bank. Quinton Marquese Allen held an employee hostage inside the bank. Negotiators engaged for several hours. Police used a drone to deliver a drink bag. When Allen exposed himself to take the drink, an MSP sharpshooter shot and killed him. The hostage was injured but later released from the hospital.
