On 06/29/2025, just before 1:30 p.m., Lincolnton Police responded to a domestic disturbance at Betty G. Ross Park. Officers encountered a man reportedly armed. During the encounter, an officer fired, fatally wounding him. A woman was also critically injured and transported to a local hospital. No officers were hurt. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation.
