OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 06/29/2025 at approximately 10:30 a.m., deputies responded to a burglary call in Aiken County. They encountered Aaron Stevenson, who was running away from the scene while armed with a machete and a firearm. Deputies shot and struck Stevenson during the encounter. Emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital, where he later died. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating.
