Robert Klingensmith, a 62-year-old attorney from Unity Township, Pennsylvania, accused of stealing more than $311,000 from a deceased client's estate, died by suicide during a standoff with Pennsylvania State Police on July 1, 2025. Police attempted to arrest Klingensmith at his home on Balsiger Drive when he barricaded himself inside. After several hours of negotiations, he shot himself. Klingensmith was facing multiple felony charges, and his death ended both the standoff and the pending legal proceedings.
