OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On July 3, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a 65-year-old man arrived at the Jerome Town Hall parking lot and requested a welfare check on himself. He placed a handgun on his dashboard while dispatch remained in contact and SWAT was called to assist. The man shot himself at around 4:27 p.m. It remains unclear why the gun was initially put down and then became accessible again. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and Jerome Police are investigating.
