OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 07/06/2025, a Perth Amboy Police lieutenant attempted to stop three individuals on motorized scooters near State Street and High Street. Two riders fled, and one briefly stopped before accelerating away toward Woodbridge Township. The lieutenant then allegedly ended the pursuit and shortly after, Woodbridge Township Police responded to a crash on State Street between Arbor Street and Ferry Street, where they found the scooter driver dead at the scene. The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office is investigating, and the incident will be presented to a grand jury.
