On 07/08/2025, the Warren Police Department escalated a chase against Rakim Wright after responding to a domestic violence and arson call in Warren. Wright fled into Detroit and allegedly fired at officers during the pursuit. Officers chased him on foot to Castle Avenue and Montlieu, where he continued firing, and police returned fire, killing him at the scene. A neighbor disputed that he was armed during the final encounter. The incident is under investigation.
