On 07/08/2025, the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office escalated a chase against Tyrese Gerald Gonzalez after he failed to stop for a traffic stop. Deputies chased Gonzalez at high speed along Highway 221 near Linersville Road until he crashed and died at the scene. The coroner pronounced him dead at 1:37 p.m. The incident is under investigation.
