OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
At approximately 12:57 a.m. on July 26, 2025, officers from De Pere Police, Ashwaubenon Public Safety, and Brown County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of an individual armed with a rifle at the Perkofski Boat Launch. Negotiators attempted to communicate, but the person produced the rifle. Officers from De Pere and Ashwaubenon discharged their weapons, striking the individual. First responders immediately administered aid, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene. Body cameras were active during the incident. The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation. All involved officers have been placed on administrative leave per standard protocol.
