OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On July 21, 2025, Fort Wayne police officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a suicidal man armed with a firearm near the 200 block of West State Boulevard. Upon arrival, Christopher James Stutler, 51, brandished a gun at the officers. In response, officers discharged their weapons, striking Stutler multiple times.
He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The Allen County Coroner ruled his death a homicide due to multiple gunshot wounds. The Indiana State Police along with the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office have launched an investigation into the incident. No officers were reported injured.
