On 08/21/2023, Port St. Lucie Police Department officers responded to a residence on Southwest Tulip Boulevard following a domestic disturbance involving a 58-year-old man. Police received information that the man was armed and had barricaded himself inside the residence.

Officers established a perimeter around the home and attempted to communicate with the man. The Port St. Lucie Police Department's SWAT team and crisis negotiators were deployed as the incident developed into a barricade and standoff.

Police attempted for several hours to persuade the man to leave the residence. During the standoff, officers did not enter the home while negotiators continued attempts to establish communication.

Police eventually entered the residence and found the man suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He died from the injury. Police did not fire the fatal shot.
