OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 07/29/2025, Navajo Police and a U.S. Marshals Task Force attempted to serve a federal warrant on Morton Clauschee Clark near U.S. 191 and Indian Route 7, north of Chinle, Arizona. Clark confronted officers with an axe and barricaded himself in a home. SWAT teams surrounded the house and ordered him to surrender. Clark later emerged still holding the axe and moved aggressively toward officers. Police opened fire, striking him. He was transported to a hospital, where he died. Federal charges against him included aggravated sexual abuse and assault with a dangerous weapon. The FBI and Navajo Department of Criminal Investigations are reviewing the case.
