OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 07/28/2025, 26-year-old Dakota Hawver opened fire at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. Armed with a handgun, he fired approximately 80 rounds in the parking area, killing three people and wounding at least three others. Hawver had been living out of his vehicle. He exchanged gunfire with Reno Police, who shot him. He died later at the hospital. Investigators found writings referencing paranoia and alienation but no clear motive. The Sparks Police Department is investigating.
