OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on July 31, 2025, St. Louis police detectives were conducting surveillance on a Ford Fusion recently taken in an armed carjacking in the Hyde Park neighborhood. Officers observed a man, later identified as Carlos Jackson, approaching the vehicle. As officers moved in, Jackson fled on foot, carrying a handgun with an extended magazine and a conversion device capable of automatic fire. Officers pursued him down an alley near Salisbury and 20th. Jackson reportedly ignored multiple commands to drop the weapon, and officers opened fire, striking and killing him. He died at the scene despite emergency medical efforts. Police recovered the firearm and a key fob belonging to the carjacked vehicle. Force Investigation Unit is reviewing the use of deadly force in the case.
