On 07/31/2025, Michigan State Police responded to a domestic assault call on East Main Street in Otisville. The victim escaped with serious injuries and was treated on scene. Jennings barricaded himself inside the home and was reported to be heavily armed with multiple rifles and handguns. He fired multiple rounds at troopers, striking an armored vehicle and narrowly missing a nearby homeowner, Gary Natzke, who described hearing bullets whiz past and shatter glass in his home. Troopers—after attempting negotiation—returned fire, fatally striking Jennings. The standoff lasted several hours before concluding in this tragic outcome. Troopers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the MSP Second District Special Investigation Unit and the MSP Crime Lab. The completed findings will be forwarded to the Michigan Attorney General’s Office for review. No demonstrations or protests by family or community members have been reported in connection with this incident.
