OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

At approximately 2:26 p.m. on August 2, 2025, Albuquerque Police responded to a report of gunfire in the 12000 block of Menaul Boulevard NE. Two women flagged down officers, with one reporting a domestic dispute involving her boyfriend. Officers located Martin Hernandez behind a vehicle and ordered him to drop a firearm. During the encounter, one officer deployed a 40mm less-lethal round, and at least one officer fired a gun, killing Hernandez. One officer has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.
