OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

Around 1:00 a.m. on August 4, 2025, a deputy with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic disturbance call at a home on Blackwell Road. Ryan McBride, 41, and a woman were outside the home when the deputy arrived. McBride allegedly retrieved a gun and fired at the deputy, striking his equipment. The deputy returned fire and shot McBride, who died at the scene. The deputy sustained a minor injury and was treated and released. Kentucky State Police is investigating.
