On 06/28/2025, around 1:30 a.m., Phoenix Police attempted a traffic stop near 91st Avenue and Buckeye Road. The driver refused to stop, and officers escalated a pursuit into Avondale. Near Dysart Road and Buckeye Road, while being chased, the vehicle crashed into a store and caught fire. A teenage passenger was transported to the hospital where they died from injuries sustained in the crash. The adult male driver was also hospitalized in critical condition and also died.
