OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 07/29/2025, two teenage girls reported a masked man who approached them near Fox River Road in Cary, Illinois. They escaped and notified family, who located the man’s vehicle. A McHenry County deputy found the car in the Fel-Pro RRR Conservation Area parking lot around 3:25 p.m. As officers approached, Michael Porter shot himself in the neck before they could intervene. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Lake County Coroner ruled the gunshot self-inflicted.
