OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
Around 12:50 a.m., Sturgis police attempted to stop a motorcyclist for exhibition riding near the Iron Horse Saloon. The driver continued driving on U.S. Highway 14A and lost control, crashing into a ditch. He was transported to a hospital, where he died the following day. This was one of four fatalities reported during the 85th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally as of August 4.
