OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/08/2025, shortly before 2:50 p.m., 24-year-old Paul Beasley Jr. entered the Crown Tobacco shop at 8301 State Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas. Police stated he pointed a gun at the cashier and demanded 911 be called. An officer entered the store moments later and was confronted by Beasley with the gun. The officer retreated outside, and Beasley followed, firing at officers. Five officers opened fire, killing him. No officers were injured. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is conducting an investigation.
