OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/19/2025, deputies with the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire after a homeowner confronted a man trying to steal a four-wheeler near 1100 East and 1300 North, east of Shelley. The man, identified as 35-year-old Talon Sessions of Thayne, Wyoming, exchanged gunfire with the homeowner before fleeing on foot. Deputies, supported by Bonneville County deputies, located Sessions in a nearby field. Under unclear circumstances, the confrontation escalated, and deputies opened fire, killing him. The homeowner suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The East Idaho Critical Incident Team, led by Pocatello Police, is conducting an independent investigation.
