OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 08/27/2025 around 2:30 p.m., Decatur County deputies and a Greensburg officer conducted a high-risk traffic stop on a vehicle connected to an earlier Ripley County incident. The stop occurred on County Road 400 East near County Road 300 North. A male passenger, identified as 39-year-old Travis Manlief, exited armed with a gun and pointed it at officers. Deputies and the officer opened fire, striking and killing him. Two other occupants, one male and one female, were detained. No officers were injured. The Indiana State Police Versailles Post is conducting an independent investigation.
