On 08/31/2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Phoenix police officers attempted to stop a man riding a bicycle near 20th Street and Southern Avenue. The man fled on foot into Hermoso Park. Officers pursued and reported that he was armed with a fixed-blade knife and resisted arrest. During the struggle, an officer opened fire, striking him. He was transported to a hospital where he later died.
