On September 3, 2025, around 7:30 p.m., Prescott police responded to a welfare check at a home on Eagle Ridge Road. The individual inside had reportedly made suicidal statements earlier that evening. Officers contacted the individual by phone and directed them to step outside. The person emerged holding a firearm. Officers opened fire, killing them. The Arizona Department of Public Safety Major Incident Division is investigating.
