On September 3, 2025, around 1:45 p.m., Mobile police responded to a report of a disorderly subject at a home on the 4200 block of Bayfront Road. The man, identified as 50-year-old Woodrow Meservey III, fired a shot from inside the residence. SWAT and the Crisis Intervention Team were deployed. After several hours of attempted negotiation, Meservey exited the home and fired at officers. Police opened fire, striking him. He was transported to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
