OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 09/05/2025, just before 3:00 a.m., a Reddick resident called 911 after hearing a woman screaming outside her home. Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded, encountering a man and woman in a truck. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped away, escalating into a chase. The pursuit ended near Northwest Gainesville Road and Highway 329, where the man exited the truck armed with a rifle. Deputies opened fire, killing him. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting the investigation.
