On 09/05/2025 at approximately 1:23 p.m., Jersey City police encountered a male civilian who opened fire on marked patrol cars on John F. Kennedy Boulevard near Clinton Avenue. Officers returned fire, fatally injuring the civilian. He was transported to a hospital where he died. The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office is investigating the fatal officer-involved shooting. The identities of both the deceased and the officers involved have not been released.
