OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 09/06/2025, Priceville police initiated a high-speed chase on I-65 near mile marker 329 that entered Hartselle within minutes. Around 8:30 p.m., the pursuit ended in a violent crash at Main Street and Highway 31. The crash killed a 17-year-old passenger and left five others hospitalized, including one in critical condition at UAB Hospital. Police arrested a surviving occupant who was also injured. Police did not disclose why they undertook the fatal chase. The Hartselle Police Department is conducting the investigation, and a Priceville officer has been placed on leave.

The officer responsible for the chase was Garry Chapman, the son of Dog the Bounty Hunter.
