Around 5:20 p.m., LAPD officers responded to multiple 911 calls about a man with a gun in North Hills near Parthenia Street and the 405 Freeway. Witnesses said he was threatening others while carrying a handgun and a beer bottle. Officers confronted him, and when he failed to comply and continued advancing toward them while armed, police opened fire. He was transported to a hospital where he died. A handgun was recovered at the scene.
