OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
A man was shot and killed by Homewood Police officers on Greensprings Highway near Valley Avenue. Police said they observed him riding a bicycle erratically and later stated he had outstanding warrants. Officers alleged he ignored commands, moved into traffic, and reached under his shirt several times before producing a semi-automatic pistol, chambering a round, and pointing it at them. Police opened fire and shot him. He was transported to UAB Hospital where he died. The Alabama Attorney General’s Office is investigating, and body-worn camera footage was recorded during the incident.
