On 09/13/2025, Maine State Police received reports of a vehicle driving erratically southbound on Interstate 295 near Yarmouth. Troopers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, a 2021 Jeep Wrangler driven by 34-year-old Jacob Brown of Scarborough. Brown allegedly fled at high speed. Near Mile Marker 13 in Cumberland, the Jeep veered off the road, struck trees, and caught fire. Brown, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
