On 09/14/2025, police responded to a domestic violence call at the Villaggio Apartments in Bossier City, where Christopher Hughes, the estranged husband of Manissa Tranell Howard, was reported to have harmed her and threatened himself. Officers attempted to enter; Hughes shot at them, injuring two officers. He was later found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Hughes died from his injuries.
