OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 04/19/2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E attempted a traffic stop on a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee after observing it swerving on Louisiana Highway 498. The driver, 30-year-old Brandon Wright of Pineville, refused to stop and police escalated a chase. The trooper lost sight of the vehicle, and nearly 50 minutes later it was located down an embankment and partially submerged in a bayou near Powell Lane. Wright was unrestrained and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, 33-year-old Aaron Watson of Amite, also died in the crash.
